    The Grapevine (5/18/20): Gulak Unlocked

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

    • Drew Gulak's WWE release seems to have been another money-saving measure. The former Cruiserweight Champion's contract expired on May 15, and WWE had chosen to not renew it after Gulak had asked for a higher new salary than was initially offered. However, there is word that contract negotiations between the two are still ongoing, meaning there may be a chance for Gulak to return. If he does not, he is free to wrestle anywhere he wants as he does not have a 90-day no-compete due to his contract running out naturally. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio, WON)
We say: We'd say the man deserves it after managing to land himself a prime spot working with Daniel Bryan on SmackDown, after languishing in 205 Live for most of his WWE run. You can pay the man. You've got the money.
    • Undertaker's current WWE contract is good for 15 years. This was the contract he signed early last year after he took bookings for the Starrcast II convention, which Vince McMahon offered him as a reaction. The contract is reportedly worth a lot of money, and Undertaker will be close to 70 years old by the time it expires. (Source: WON)
We say: Yes, this is the kind of thing Vince McMahon spends his money on. Not to say that Undertaker doesn't deserve it, but it all seems a little strange now considering current circumstances.
