#ThemeSongTuesday: Miz and Morrison! Hey Hey! Ho Ho!

Looks like WWEMusic finally remembered their YouTube password.

Not gonna lie, I miss getting new content from them, which has always been great for #TST material. That's why it was a real treat when they started uploading stuff again, starting with Sasha Banks's remixed theme featuring Snoop Dogg, which I'll get to in a future column.

For now, though, I'll be showing love to the national treasure that is Miz & Morrison's anthem, "Hey Hey."

First off, why isn't this song their entrance theme now? When Johnny Mundo put out "Welcome to Slamtown" during his Lucha Underground run, it became his entrance theme immediately. In fact, it was so huge, Survivor fans even parodied it during the Mayor of Slamtown's run on Survivor: David Vs. Goliath a couple of years ago.

    On to the song!

You know how something's just so bad... it's good? That's "Hey Hey" in a nutshell. I'd like to think WWE Music Group, The Miz, and John Morrison are all self-aware enough to know how ridiculous and silly this song (and its accompanying music video) are so they just doubled down on it. And that's what makes it so wonderful.

Imagine a couple of white titos trying to be cool and all hip-hop while obviously failing at it. That's the image Miz and Morrison are painting with "Hey Hey." The beat is a decent mid-tempo loop, something WWE Music Group is all too familiar with. But to their credit, the song isn't a loop at all because you have three unique verses on top of the hook, which is stuck in my head at this point.

Speaking of the hook, the beat slows Miz and Morrison's new catchphrase by a lot, so it was awkward when I heard it for the first time since I'd been so used to the way they chant their catchphrase on TV. As for the vocals, the song shows that Miz is the better rapper among the two of them. Yes, both of them just sound incredibly lame because of how basic their cadence and flow are. I mean, just listen to them rap.

They really played up the "white boy can't rap" stereotype, which is hilarious. But Miz stands out because he at least knows how to maximize his bars. I can't say the same for Morrison, who either has to put pauses in between his just to make the line fit or has to try to rap super fast in some of his lines just to squeeze it in the bar. The weird and mismatched cadence only works because Miz and Morrison come in one line at a time in a sagutan fashion. Otherwise, this would be an absolute stinker.

Go ahead and listen to the song while looking at the lyrics below (from Genius.com) and you'll see what I mean. I'll wait.

    Hey-hey, ho-ho (Johnny Ladder)
    Miz and Morrison
    Hey-hey, ho-ho

    WrestleMania, you're done

For what it's worth, I love the lyrics because of all the references to the backgrounds of The New Day and The Usos, plus Miz and Morrison's respective careers. They were able to pack so much in such a short song, including a Daniel Bryan diss that also served to throw shade at their opponents! I don't know if they can keep doing this for Miz and Morrison's future feuds, but I'd like to see them try.

If they don't, I'll be totally happy with the tag champs just using this song as their entrance theme. Please, for the love of God, WWE. You're already putting the wrestlers' lives at risk. At least give me "Hey Hey" as Miz and Morrison's entrance theme.

"Welcome to Slamtown" is still the better John Morrison theme, but "Hey Hey" could very well be the most hilarious entrance theme to debut in the year of our Lord coronavirus, 2020.

What do you think about Miz and Morrison's song and music video? Let us know in the comments section below!
