Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
This is it, this may finally be the RAW Women's Championship story we're waiting for:
- Shayna Baszler is reportedly scheduled to appear on this week's episode of RAW. This will apparently be her official RAW debut, kickstarting the story that will culminate in a RAW Women's Championship match against champion Becky Lynch at WrestleMania. Lynch is set to defend her title against Asuka on the same episode. (Source: WON)
We say: We're definitely interested at how this one is going to go down, as it's the most logical next step indeed for Shayna after being a dominant NXT Women's Champion.
- Rusev is apparently off TV due to a contract dispute. He has been dropping hints about being unhappy in the company and wanting to leave, including once changing his Twitter bio to "soon to be free agent." His feud with Bobby Lashley and Lana was reportedly supposed to end with a big blowoff, but obviously this is now in jeopardy. (Source: WON)
We say: Looks like they may not be happy about the story after all? In any case, Rusev does deserve better, so we wait with bated breath on how this plays out.
- The mystery attacker at the end of the Cody/MJF segment was actually Kazarian. What seemed like a fan rushing MJF and Wardlow was actually Kazarian adlibbing because he felt someone should've gone after the heels. Since it wasn't planned, no one on the broadcast team could quickly identify him. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: Really had us fooled there, though we guess it made sense that a whole bunch of security officers didn't restrain the "fan."
Let us know what you think of this week's news in the comments!
