With his WWE contract coming up soon, do we know where Matt Hardy is headed?
- Matt Hardy may be going to AEW as the eventual leader of the Dark Order. There is speculation that Hardy, whose contract expires on March 1, will be revealed as the mystery figurehead of the group. WWE passed on an opportunity to reintroduce his Woken character, and AEW is currently teasing a leader for the Dark Order who seems to fit Hardy's mannerisms. (Source: WON)
We say: Definitely would be an interesting turn for Matt Hardy, but are fans still really looking for the Broken/Woken gimmick, which may have already jumped the shark after two iterations in two different companies? Although it doesn't say that he would have to revert to that if he joins AEW, we can only hope Matt can keep it fresh the same way Jericho has for his own character.
- Marty Scurll has re-signed with Ring of Honor. The new offer they gave him reportedly sees him getting "WWE main roster money" and 40 dates each year, among other things. He is also apparently the new head booker for ROH, and can continue to appear for companies like NWA while being contracted to ROH. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: This explains so much, and also is a death knell for any fan aspirations involving Scurll and the rest of the Elite. We suppose he's not giving up on ROH just yet.
- Brian Cage has reportedly signed with AEW. Cage, who competed in last weekend's Hard to Kill PPV for Impact, will apparently be starting for the company soon. He received offers from Impact and ROH, but turned them down. (Source: SoCalUncensored.com)
We say: That's a huge get for AEW, and we hope they use him right.
