    Smark Healthy Basics: The Deadlift

Good day, marks and smarks! It's GCP back again with the very first Smark Healthy tutorial video. A tutorial video of what, you might ask?

So you've seen a good number of local pro wrestlers performing this particular exercise and/or one of its variations. Jake De Leon has openly stated how much he loves this lift, and Chris Panzer has always showcased his heavy reps on his social media page. IMABAYASHI, Jaye Sera, Jan Evander and other wrestlers and grapplers alike have incorporated it in their workouts because they've seen the benefits of it. Let's face it, it's a damn impressive sight to see. That's right, I'm talking about the deadlift.

It seems simple enough, right? Yes and no. The basic concept of it is to pick up the weight and put it down. The dimunyu is in the details, however. Proper form is important to protect yourself when lifting. Yes, it may be flashy to lift a very significant amount of weight, but knowing how to do it the right way helps minimize the risk of injury. We at Smark Healthy love our IG feats of strength too, but we want to be able to keep doing it again and again with a healthy body.

With that in mind, it's important to start from the basics. We've made sure to have more experienced lifters and licensed trainers review this video first before we pass on the information to you. And even if you're not a beginner with this particular lift, it never hurts to review your form every once in a while. So, without further ado, here's our tutorial video on the deadlift.

I personally love deadlifts. When done correctly—and believe me, I spent a majority of my early lifting days doing this wrong—it's a great addition to any program. Whether you go light but with volume to develop endurance, or go heavy for strength, the deadlift is suited for you. Just remember that form is always king over weight. Safety first, after all.

The members of Smark Healthy have various fitness backgrounds. However, as a precaution, we always advise our readers to seek the help of a trained professional when first executing these exercises. Proper form and technique, not just the weight, are the foundations of getting dem gainz safely.
