    SmackDown RunDown (10/11/19): We're All Bayley’s Bitches

Waddup, bitches? I'm NitPickRick, your weekly dose of negativity. Let's get started.

Oh hey, it's the WWE Draft! Drafts are fun, right? I mean, they used to be. The usual draft format was okay, but the lottery draft format was definitely my jam. And I also enjoyed it when all the rosters were exclusive to their respective brands. I remember when John Cena got drafted to SmackDown and back to RAW at the end of the night. Everyone hated it, but I actually didn't mind it that much. After all, drafts are supposed to be unpredictable and exciting like that.

And now we're back to the classic format and it couldn't be any duller. It's really hard to take this one seriously when you remind yourself that this is the second roster reshuffle of the year. Sure, they're saying it's going to be exclusive from now on, but you know they're going to mix things up again once the ratings start to drop. Give it a few months, and we'll eventually see Roman Reigns become the Universal Champion once again on RAW as a SmackDown "exclusive."

Am I the only one annoyed by this year's format? I appreciate the fact that the networks are the ones influencing the picks, but did we really need to cut to their respective "war rooms" and see how they react? It's too comical and no one's really buying it. And how about those guys in suits talking about drafting dead guys or legends to either brands? Is Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Andre the Giant the only wrestlers they know? Watch the product a little, would ya?

So yeah, as you can tell, I'm not as hyped about the draft as you hoped. Just look at the picks we got. Roman Reigns? That's already a given. Sasha Banks? Okay, I guess. Braun Strowman? Meh. Lacey Evans, The Revival, Lucha House Party, and Heavy Machinery? I mean, I guess that's good. While RAW got the best of the best, SmackDown had to settle for scrapes. Although I have to say, Becky Lynch being the #1 draft pick is hella lit. That's how you make a statement.

The only saving grace from the first night of the WWE Draft is Bray Wyatt bringing his adorable little friends to Friday Nights. That's right, bitches, SmackDown will be the funhouse that Bray Wyatt built. After they fudged things up at Hell in a Cell, they're now throwing The Fiend to Friday nights where he will continue rising to the top while creeping everyone out, only to be thwarted by whoever the top guy is. Referee stoppage is my jam! /s

This week's episode is not all that bad. For one, we got a SmackDown Women's Championship match as our main event. That's always nice. And second, we got the full-fledged version of heel Bayley and it is lit. She entered the ring with a new hairstyle and a new attitude. She also sent everyone a strong message when started slashing off her wacky inflatable arm-flailing tube men. Bayley's bad now, you guys, and there's no turning back. Also, she called us bitches.

And her brand new badass attitude paid off big time because she recaptured her second SmackDown Women's Championship, legitimizing Bayley's transformation in the process. I just wish her win was more decisive than a mere rollup. She could've also introduced a newer and more sinister finisher to further punctuate her dark side. After all, her crowd-pleasing moveset and her incredibly lame hugging finisher wouldn't fly anymore. But nitpicks aside, this was a great night to be Bayley. We're all her bitches now, and I can live with that.

SMACKDOWN RUNDOWN: If not for Bray Wyatt being drafted to SmackDown (and the fact that I write these columns every week), I would've tuned out during the Brock Lesnar-Cain Velasquez snoozefest. But Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair made me feel glad I stuck around until the end when Bayley told everyone, "Screw you." A new era has just begun and I can't wait to see it unfold in the coming weeks. Also, let's hope we get at least Cesaro or Shinsuke Nakamura on Friday nights. That would be nice.

    • Somehow, Shorty Gable works for me as a name. I can't explain it either. Anyway, Shorty and King Corbin pulled off the second-best match of the night. Definitely made Corbin looked good.
    • The Fiend has unlocked the ability to drag people down to the canvas. Nice. Maybe next time he'll gain the ability to summon lightning. That would give him +7 charisma.
    • For some reason, I didn't catch the New Day vs. OC match. Damn you, terrible internet connection!
    • I'm really glad they're still high on Drew McIntyre. #5 first round draft pick ain't bad at all. Once he returns, maybe they'll try and actually push him to the top instead of dangling a carrot in front of him. Suddenly, I crave some carrot cake.
