Laying The SmackDown In Araneta: WWE Returns To Manila

    Are you ready?

    I said, ARE YOU READY?!

It has been three years since we last saw the WWE in Manila. At that time, yours truly was able to catch the biggest and best Superstars in what could be labeled as a different time in wrestling. We had the likes of John Cena, Sheamus, Big Show, and Seth Rollins (to name a few) entertain us. The roster itself was vastly different because it was a RAW-branded show.

Next week, we'll be able to catch the Superstars of SmackDown! on September 20, 2019, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It's a wholly different roster than before because a lot of younger Superstars have made their mark and have risen towards the top of the card. New names have come forth so expect everything to be a totally unique experience.

The early press releases say we'll be seeing the likes of Roman Reigns, Kofi Kingston, and Daniel Bryan perform. However, one has to wonder how accurate this still is because as we all know, several storylines and real-life injuries have played out on WWE TV.

Per the original show, names like Elias and Drew McIntyre were slated to take part. Both men are now rumored to be injured so you have to wonder how this affects the previously announced matches involving both men. McIntyre was originally slated to face Reigns, while Elias was supposed to take part in a tag team match.

Then, you also have to consider the current storylines and feuds happening. From the early match card, Kofi Kingston and Roman Reigns were both booked for WrestleMania rematches. If TV is to dictate how this show would play out, I expect Erick Rowan vs. Reigns and Kingston vs. Randy Orton to reflect that.

Lastly, since the talent line-up and the card itself could possibly change, I'm still hoping for three Superstar appearances to make me completely happy. Becky Lynch, AJ Styles, and Bray Wyatt showing up would really make my day.

Yeah, they're not really SmackDown superstars, but a man can hope can't he? Besides, if we're not seeing Drew and Elias, I'm sure WWE would make up for it by giving us a brand new surprise altogether? Besides, all four Horsewomen are in a feud that encompasses both brands so Becky isn't too impossible to wish for.

Regardless if we get the Superstars we want or not, I'm still extra hyped for the show. I've been waiting to catch another one since their last visit here. Plus, the projected lineup is completely different from the last live event in Manila.

I'm also praying they at least give us a few 24/7 spots inside the arena so we can get up close and personal. That, or give us pancakes from The New Day.

Heck, I would love it if WWE came to Manila every three years because I'm sure by that time, NXT favorites such as Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream might be on that show. (Hey, that's a good idea.)

So, I'll catch you at the show next week! Come and say hi to your favorite Smark Henry writers if you spot us there. We'll be waiting (or as Bray Wyatt would say, let us in)!
