Smark Hen-XT (5/15/19): Raiders of the NXT Ark

The fate of the NXT Tag Team titles was addressed during this episode. With the Viking Raiders making more appearances as part of the RAW roster, it was only time for them to drop the championships to allow other teams to grow and prosper just as they did in NXT—at least that was what the Viking Raiders intended to do when they opened the show.

After Ivar and Erik called out NXT General Manager William Regal to try and relinquish the titles, a ready-to-fight Street Profits came out to antagonize the champions and goad them into defending the titles instead of vacating them. This would eventually lead to the night's main event—one which led to a no contest when the Forgotten Sons and the team of Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan interfered.

As it stands, it looks like the three teams are eyeing to take the Viking Raiders' former spot atop the division. If it were me, I'd like to see the Street Profits step up and stake their claim on the titles because of their continued impressive showings. However, I also feel it makes more sense for the Forgotten Sons to win because of the heat they could generate from the gold. At this rate, I think it's safe to say Burch and Lorcan have the least chances of winning the gold but I could always be wrong.

For now, NXT's tag team division seems to be getting a resurgence and the floor is open for any challengers to the titles. Whether the Viking Raiders are truly done with NXT, or if the brand decides to give them one last TakeOver to defend the title is something we'll have to wait a few more weeks to see. But somehow, I feel this isn't the last we've seen of the Viking duo.

    Not-So-Full Sails

    • It's hard to take the Street Profits seriously with Montez Ford's antics but they seem to be stepping up every week and they've found the crowd's sweet spot.
    • Well, that was quick. After last week's in-faction drama, it looks like the Undisputed ERA is back on the same page. However, I think this will just add more fuel to the fire until they implode yet again.
    • I'm not feeling Keith Lee as much as I should be. He really hasn't done anything noteworthy and his momentum has stalled.
    • Drew Gulak against KUSHIDA is something I could really get behind. It's stating the obvious but I'm betting KUSHIDA will take that W when it happens.
    • Beth Phoenix is a welcome addition to the team. I never really enjoyed Percy Watson so this is a fresh take on the NXT announce team formula.
Who do you think could become the next NXT Tag Team Champions? Is the Undisputed ERA okay or is this just a little swerve? Hit us up in the comments section below for your thoughts.
