The Grapevine (12/7/18): Queens of the Ring

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week.

We have here a bunch of rumors about the WWE women:

    • WWE reportedly wants to do a Queen of the Ring tournament next year. It's only an idea being thrown around at this point, but it comes in the wake of brainstorming for another all-women PPV in 2019. (Source: WON)
We say: This isn't a bad idea, only that there's already the Mae Young Classic making it a little redundant. They'll likely have to pick one and stick with it; and to be honest, the Mae Young is already garnered more prestige in two years than another new (but old) tournament idea.
    • Becky Lynch has not yet been cleared for in-ring action. Her concussion issues are done, but she still has to recover from the nasal fracture from Nia Jax's errant punch. This is why she was not involved in any physical action on this week's episode of SmackDown Live; however, she taped a six-woman tag match for this year's Tribute to the Troops. It's highly likely that she did not do much wrestling and bumping there either. She will likely be cleared within the next 10 days as TLC is happening in two Sundays. (Source: WON)
We say: We're glad the injury isn't severe enough to keep The Man from being a champion.
    • Alexa Bliss has also not been fully cleared for in-ring action. This is due to her concussion issues, which she suffered a number of during a short period of time. There are unconfirmed rumors that she may be sitting out until Royal Rumble, and she has been training in a special, more protected ring at the Performance Center. (Source: F4WOnline)
We say: Going by the rumors of how bad she was concussed the last time, this may be for the best. The RAW women's division is deep even when it doesn't seem that way, so the show will be fine. Get well soon, Alexa.
