Sawasdee Cup 2018 Announced, PWR Stars to Participate

A gamechanger could be coming to the SEA wrestling scene. As announced recently, the second annual Sawasdee Cup Asia Pro-Wrestling Summit will take place, a gathering of the best the regional scene has to offer.

The event will be held on October 23, 2018 in Thailand, and is quite notable for a few reasons:

    1.  For local wrestling fans, this will be interesting to say the least as PWR will make its presence felt in the event. PHX Champion Jake de Leon, and former PWR Tag Team Champions John Sebastian and Crystal will be showing up at the event to likely participate. 2018 is the year Philippine wrestling truly makes and solidifies its mark in the region with more local stars appearing overseas than in previous years, and JDL, Crystal, and Sebastian booked for this event continues that trend.

To add, the Ladykiller, who took on Chris Panzer and also serves as one of the heads of Grapple MAX is participating in the show as well with his co-founder Greg Glorious.

    2. This will mark the debut to the scene of one of the hottest free agents in the scene today in Shigehiro Irie. A former KO-D Openweight Champion in DDT Pro Wrestling, he has continued to defy expectations with every main event he comes into with his rare display of power and speed. Becoming a freelancer by this point has allowed him to take his talents to a new stage.

That is besides the fact that the BFF of the Golden Lovers and former DDT mainstay, Michael Nakazawa, will make his mark for the first time in the region after becoming inactive a few years back.

    3. Dick Togo and Emi Sakura, legends and major proponents of the rise of the SEA wrestling scene, will be there, as well as Michinoku Pro Wrestling president Jinsei Shinzaki. That alone will tell you how important this event will be for the scene and its subsequent future.

And for those in the area, note that admission is free!

More information should come in the following weeks, but what do you think of the announcement so far? How excited are you with this major development to the scene? Sound off in the comments!
