Theme Song Tuesday (9/11/18): Killing The Business With ANOTHER SUPERKICK PARTAAAAAY

Did someone ask for some epic new theme music? Did somebody call for one of the funnest entrance music to hit this 2018? DID WE JUST ALL GET INVITED TO A SUPERKICK PARTAAAAAAY?

Raf Camus here guesting this week to review one of the hottest entrance themes to hit this year. Of course I'm talking about one of the debuts from the recently concluded ALL IN—one that no one on this site has talked about yet, and that's The Young Bucks' new entrance music, the appropriately named "SUPERKICK PARTY."

Superkick Party is about as bombastic as it gets for wrestling themes today. It starts of with a guitar lick that is reminiscent of the Power Rangers theme song, which hooks you in right away. Then comes presumably Matt Jackson yelling, “SUPERKICK PARTAAAAAY,” kicking the theme into the next gear. The theme’s main riff gives off strong licks, and fantastic synth drums & percussion work that feel right for The Bucks.

Anyone who appreciates this energetic form of rock can appreciate the theme from first listen, but it’s the details that truly make this a candidate for Theme of the Year. By throwing in key catchphrases like their “The Elite! The The Elite!” chant in the breakdown, they add yet another layer to this already fun song. What caps it off so well is how they end the song with their clear mission statement: “Young Bucks: We’re Killing the Business.”

When The Young Bucks came out with that mantra, many believed it had everything to do with their perceived disregard for in-ring psychology, assault on traditional wrestling values, and lack of respect for what wrestling as a whole stands for. It grew even more evident with the growth of their Being The Elite web series from a weekly road diary, to an intrinsic part of their storylines.

The Bucks go to great lengths to discuss their recent ups and downs on their Talk is Jericho guestings, using this pod of awesomeness as an intimate platform. Why does all of this matter you may ask? Well, on the August 22, 2018 episode of Talk is Jericho, The Bucks came on to talk candidly about ALL IN and debuted their brand new theme song "Superkick Party" by Meat Sauce Media.

Let’s talk about the composers for a quick minute, since they are relative newcomers to the theme song game. Meat Sauce Media refer to themselves on their website as a “full service media production company,” with nothing other than this theme to their name. They were able to land The Bucks as their first clients, all the while rendering the new entrance video, as well as printing the physical vinyl copies of the song. If this isn’t a coup, I don’t know what is. Expect to see their portfolio expand after landing the proverbial white whale of a client in The Young Bucks.

When we analyze themes on this column, the question always comes up: but does it fit the wrestler? In this case, the answer is a resounding yes. The Bucks’ old NJPW theme, "Double Barrel", though still great in it's own right, didn’t call as much attention to what their brand has become in the past few years. It wasn’t as much of a reflection of who they were as "Superkick Party" is.

In a year with too many highlights to list, The Young Bucks were already having a career year as of August 31, 2018—having won the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship with Marty Scurll, the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with Cody, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships (most recently at WrestleKingdom 12) and the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships before September even hit.

By ALL IN, you'd think they couldn't hit any more highs... but holy hell they did. They chose to put the cherry on top of it all by coming out to this epic theme, which very clearly resonated strongly with those in attendance at the Sears Center when they came out with Kota Ibushi for their six-man tag match against Bandido, Rey Fenix, and Rey Mysterio, Jr. to close the show.

As a small aside, the theme distances The Bucks a little further thematically as The Bullet Club Civil War rages on. It is a far cry from the themes of The Guerillas of Destiny and OG Bullet Club that are so much darker and slower. This evolution marks another fork in the road for this once great, now fragmented faction.

Are you all in for this Superkick Partaaaaay, or are you not a fan of over-the-top rock? Let us know in the comments below!
