The Grapevine (8/31/18): KO Gone AWOL

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

    Where is Kevin Owens going?

    • There are many rumors surrounding Kevin Owens's quitting storyline. He proclaimed that he "quit" after his loss to Seth Rollins on RAW this week, and WWE.com put his profile on their Alumni section. The different rumors claim that he may be returning to SmackDown or that he's getting paired up with Paul Heyman. As of today, none of these rumors is confirmed, although WWE is interested in keeping Paul on TV even without Brock Lesnar. (Source: WON)
We say: This is getting really interesting, though, and the more we think about it, the more it sounds like Kevin Owens being a Paul Heyman Guy would be appealing. They'd have to book him the same way they did Lesnar, however, and a lot less like how they did Cesaro as a Heyman Guy.
    • Bray Wyatt is reportedly in line for a push once he returns to TV from injury. The plan is apparently to retain the original Bray Wyatt character, but in a solid babyface run. He actually is cleared as he worked a RAW live event this week against Jinder Mahal. (Source: WrestleVotes)
We say: Definitely interesting, and one to watch out for. But maybe he would be better off back on SmackDown?
    • Kurt Angle is also training "very hard" for an in-ring return. While there's no news yet on who he would be facing when he does, it seems that his return is something planned by the company. His current vacation from RAW is just a storyline and he has no heat whatsoever. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: Also exciting, but who could stand to benefit the most from Angle returning to the ring? Will he be riding with his Shield brethren once again?
    • Tickets for WWE Super Show-Down and Evolution are not sold out yet. The sales for the big event in Australia are doing fine a little over a month before the show, but not anywhere close to being sold out. The Melbourne Cricket Ground can hold 80,000 fans, but the company is currently pushing for only 70,000. Meanwhile, tickets for Evolution are also not sold out yet but WWE expects it to come close on the day of the event. The company's not worried about the slow performance as it's common for most of their PPVs, especially in the New York area. (Source: WON)
We say: We're really intrigued to find out if they could do WrestleMania numbers in Australia. Maybe if they offered tour and travel packages to go with it? Kind of tough for fans in neighboring regions and countries to head to Australia just for this, more so when the card more closely resembles a second-tier PPV than a Big Four event (because they won't have a PPV with the dudes that month thanks to Evolution).
