PWR Reaches The First Milestone of Season 5 With Renaissance 2018

It’s the second half of the month, and you know what time it is—it's time for some local wrasslin'! The stars of Philippine Wrestling Revolution wage war once again at this year's PWR Renaissance! Let's run down the biggest stories of the first of PWR's big events this season!

It's a clash between PWR veterans for the PWR Championship

Ralph Imabayashi's on a roll with some incredible successful PWR Championship defenses, but is he prepared for his biggest, most challenging opponent yet? Main Maxx, his challenger, is no slouch: after all, he's the longest-reigning Philippine Excellence Champion in PWR history, and one important detail—he’s also never been defeated by Ralph.

But after suffering a career-threatening ACL tear injury in March 2017, Main Maxx had to sit on
the sidelines, forgoing his wrestling dreams for a whole year. Since returning last March at Path of Gold, Maxx has signed with former PWR general manager-turned-agent Mr. Sy, who has led him to a sweep of the PWR Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament, culminating
in a victory over two-time Kampeon ng Pilipinas Jake De Leon in the finals at PWR Live:
    Way of the Champion.

Maxx is on a roll, and the question lies: could Ralph Imabayashi stop Maxx's fiery momentum? Could the Ultimate Hybrid ride that wave to become the new Kampeon ng Pilipinas?

Jake De Leon sets his sights on the PHX Championship

This is going to be hot. For the first time in two years, Ken Warren and Jake De Leon—two of Philippine Wrestling Revolution’s originals—go head to head in singles competition for the Philippine Excellence Championship.  We heard these two wrestlers have been one-upping each other since day one.

Just how historic is this match? After all, the first-ever wrestling match that the two had starred in four long years ago was against each other. Ken Warren and Jake De Leon are two-time titleholders of the PHX Championship and the PWR Championship, respectively, and have each won the grueling Path of Gold tournament. It’s a seemingly even-sided bout, except with one caveat: Jake De Leon remains undefeated in singles competition against Ken Warren—and he's been clowning Warren on social media, his self-proclaimed playground, this whole time. Ouch.

Is the Social Media Sinister going to hold on to his title, or will the Senyorito continue to relentlessly pursue his quest for gold and glory? Don't blink: they're likely to end up stealing the show.

This PWR Tag Team Championship match is personal

This may seem like any other title match to the uninformed viewer, but this bout is more than the prestigious PWR Tag Team Championships. This title match will be personal for Evan Carleaux and Trian Dela Torre, who are out to avenge the assault on Officer Tutan, GrabCamus, and Jhemerlhynn at the hands of the tag champions at July’s PWR Live: Way of the Champion.

The Naughty Boys of PWR, Evan Carleaux and Trian Dela Torre, were able to secure their
#1 contendership for the PWR Tag Team Championships after defeating the only tag team
in PWR that they had yet to defeat: the YOLO Twins. With momentum on their side, the
leaders of the Naughty Boys/Trianverse head into PWR Renaissance to take on The
Wrestling Lord and Savior, John Sebastian, and the Queen of Philippine Wrestling, Crystal.
It won't be an easy task for Carleaux and Dela Torre, as they will need more than the power of friendship to defeat wrestling royalty.

Carnage is the order of the day in the four-way All Out War Championship match

When Alexander Belmonte III won the All Out War Championship at last May’s Wrevolution
X, it was against five other warriors in a Six-Man All Out War Match—the biggest and most
brutal in Philippine professional wrestling history. An emphatic win earned AB3 the title of
the Warlord. And at PWR Renaissance 2018, The Warlord steps into battle once again to
defend his title against not one, not two, but three opponents! AB3 chose Quatro, Dax Xaviera, and SANDATA to defend his title against after the three men fought to a no-contest in their three-way to determine a new #1 contender to the All Out War Championship.

Will AB3 prove his Warlordiness even further with a successful title defense, or will he find that he's bitten off more than he can chew?

Zayden Trudeau has one last shot at victory

We haven't seen Zayden Trudeau in action since losing his first shot at the PWR Championship against Ralph Imabayashi at PWR Live: RE5PETO, and it turns out that there's even worse news coming from the Canadian Dragon. Zayden announced on this week's episode of the Smark Gilas-Pilipinas Podcast that Renaissance will be his last show on Philippine soil for a while, as he'll be returning to Canada to finish his studies.

Zayden's matchup versus Koto Hiro—which was originally supposed to be a three-way with Rederick Mahaba, who claims he had to back out due to conflicting schedules with his new movie—career at Renaissance will be the Filipino-Canadian's last chance to end his run strong. It won't be a walk in the park as Koto is one of the best to have ever stepped foot in a PWR ring, but we know it's going to be one hell of a match. We wish Zayden the best of luck in his future endeavors, eh, and we're looking forward to seeing him back when everything's settled in his life.
