The Grapevine (4/6/18): Going Home To New Orleans

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Are John Cena and Undertaker having a match at WrestleMania... or not?

    • As of now, nobody is sure whether John Cena and the Undertaker will actually be having a match at WrestleMania this Sunday. Vince McMahon is reportedly happy with the way things are, aware that the audience believes Undertaker will be at WrestleMania, but currently it could be an actual match or a confrontation to build up to a match at WrestleMania 35. He has not appeared in any episode of RAW, marking this the first time a major WrestleMania match happened without being officially announced on TV if there is a match—Vince believes that the match wouldn't add any new subscribers to the WWE Network. It's still best to bet that it would be an actual match, as it was reported to be a match a while back. (Source: WON)
We say: This is completely unprecedented for the Undertaker, and we can honestly say we're intrigued. We imagine that we'd be very disappointed if it ends up being a mere confrontation to set up another year of mind-numbing hype, so we'd rather have this match happen on Monday to get it over with already.
    • Rusev may have been added to the United States Championship match at WrestleMania as a way to keep him happy. While his burgeoning popularity and merchandise sales were definitely a big factor, there was apparently talk of Rusev pushing for his release some months ago over the way he was being used. Prior to being inserted into the match, Rusev was a part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: He deserves it, and at this point, we wouldn't be surprised if he won the title.
    • There will be new additions to the WWE Hall of Fame's Legacy Wing at this year's ceremony on Friday. To be inducted are the following: El Santo, Lord Alfred Hayes, Stan Stasiak, Boris Malenko, "The Golden Greek" Jim Londos, Dara Singh, Cora Combs, Rufus R. Jones, and Sputnik Monroe. We say: We're surprised they haven't announced this ahead of time with El Santo and Lord Alfred headlining.
