#FlavorTheMoment: Sino Ang Manok Ni Mr. Sy?

Reigning PHX Champion "The Walking Death" Mike Madrigal may be fed up with all the surprise opponents and mystery challengers that have tried to snap his half-year reign, but that doesn't mean us pro wrestling fans are too.

Ever since former PWR General Manager Mr. Sy made his shocking return at last month's Holding Hands While Wrestling to reveal a mystery contender for Madrigal's gold, the rumor mill has been buzzing overtime with all sorts of theories and gossip about who it could be.

What makes this mystery contender even more compelling are the revelations that whoever he/she is may have old ties with current PWR co-owner John Sebastian—a completely believable scenario considering this match-up proposed by Sy was enough to get the man who fired him to agree to it.

We've scraped the internet for the various theories out there, and are presenting four of our favorite ones in no particular order.

    Tara, let's go!

    1. Robin Sane, Manila Wrestling Federation

The high-flying "Master of the 450" Robin Sane of MWF would certainly be an interesting prospect as a PHX contender. He's one of only three men to have wrestled in both PWR and MWF, and is one of the true pioneers behind today's local wrestling revival.

What connection would he possibly have with Sebastian? The dude was the first ever Jack of All Trades for the now-disbanded Royal Flush—the same role Sebastian himself once filled before getting promoted to Ace. With MWF and PWR stars occasionally crossing the pond into each other's shows, who's to say this is an impossible scenario?

    2. Main Maxx

Rumors have been circulating since late last year that the hulking 280-pound behemoth is nearly back in ring shape after his devastating knee injury earlier on in 2017. He's of course a former co-Royal Flush member with John Sebastian, and still maintains a cordial relationship with the man.

But he's got to have a personal reason to see Madrigal fall too. His 281-day reign as PHX Champion is the longest in company history, and with Madrigal gaining steam with each passing month, we bet he'd love to personally make sure his record never falls.

    3. Chino Guinto

Here's a face we'd love to see return to PWR soon: another former PHX Champion, "The Golden Boy" Chino Guinto.

Guinto was one of the most popular stars on the roster when he suffered his own ACL and MCL tear during training—an injury that forced him to relinquish the PHX Championship. It's got to be eating away at him, and while we haven't heard return rumors about him as optimistic as Main Maxx's, you can never say never when it comes to the Network's former Hotshot Hustler. He doesn't have much of a connection with Sebastian, however, which is what makes this particular rumor dodgy.

    4. Bombay Suarez

PWR's "Heart and Soul" may have faded quietly away into semi-retirement, but don't forget that his last major appearance was at the 2017 edition of Path of Gold—making a potential return one year later even more potentially poetic.

Don't forget either that John Sebastian owes all his wrestling skills and abilities to the "Bitchkiller." Suarez was Head Trainer during Sebastian's batch at PWR Bootcamp—not to mention a former PHX Champion in his own right. Is a return likely? Maybe not. But we wouldn't mind seeing Madrigal secure a signature win over a legend of Bombay's stature.

Who do you think Mr. Sy's cock will be, Revo-Nation? Whoever it is, we know Madrigal is seething over it, but after all, he can't blame anyone but himself.

Tandaan, Mike Madrigal: Ginusto ko 'yan.

PWR Path of Gold 2018 is happening on Sunday, March 11, at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati. The show starts at 2 PM. Tickets will be available at the gate for P400, but are extremely limited so we advise you to contact PWR directly via their official Facebook page for reservations and early-bird discounts.

Disclosure: Smark Henry is independently owned and managed by a group of Filipino pro wrestling fans, but includes members affiliated with the Philippine Wrestling Revolution.
