Level UP: Manila Wrestling Federation To Host Open House At University of the Philippines This February

After two months of silence in the aftermath of its highly-successful 2017 Noche Buena show featuring global superstar Ho Ho Lun, the Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF) is finally making some noise to kick off 2018.

The colorful promotion is opening its second calendar year of existence with an open house event called (appropriately enough) Open House: Level UP at the UPFI Film Studio in the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City on Sunday, February 25, at 3 PM.

This will be a launch event for fans and media alike to meet the company's army of colorful, quirky, athletic characters as a viable addition to the country's entertainment scene.

Boasting of such physically gifted entertainers on their roster as the hulking Mr. Lucha, the spry and springy Fabio Makisig, and the granite-hard Gigz Stryker, and steered by a creative team made up of theater, film and TV professionals, MWF has certainly lived up to its promise of "delivering fun, family-friendly entertainment through its colorful characters and relatable, relevant stories told in athletically driven action in and around the wrestling ring." Carving out a niche of its own, MWF certainly has the upside to be a top wrestling outfit in the region.

In a statement issued to Smark Henry, company officials had this to say:

Since their official debut at The History Channel’s HistoryCon in August 2016, the Manila Wrestling Federation has been entertaining crowds and wrestling fans in Manila through a series of shows at the Makati Cinema Square. In 2018, MWF is setting its sights higher, as it begins its journey into becoming the standard-bearer of professional wrestling entertainment in the Philippines.
'2017 was an incredible year for us,' shares co-founder and Commissioner, Mike Shannon. 'Not only did we prove our ability to deliver the best wrestling quality in the country, we were also able to make a noise in the scene by showcasing a blend of local and international talent. This year promises a number of big and exciting changes for the MWF and we are excited to share it with our fans.'

Tons of activities are in store for Level UP attendees, including a mini-show featuring two matches:

    • "The Grunge Grappler" Frankie Thurteen vs. Ashura (with Kyle Sison)
    • "The King of Pinoy Strong Style" Rex Lawin (with Coach Gus Queens) vs. UP Diliman's own RG

In addition, fans will be able to check out perhaps the biggest leap forward in the company's year-long existence: their very own professional wrestling ring custom-built to support their signature brand of hard-hitting moves like Robin Sane's pioneering 450 splash or Alden Richards Rose Goddess Slayer electric chair bomb.

Litton and company will also be announcing the main event and venue for their next show, MWF Kasaysayan, scheduled on April 8—WrestleMania weekend—while also unveiling the new faces and voices of their brand-new broadcast team.

The future of the Manila Wrestling Federation looks brighter and badder! See you there, mga ka-smarkada!
