Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the weekend.
Guess who (might) be back on TV this week:
- Paige may be the final addition to the women's interbrand five-on-five Survivor Series match. Despite original rumors placing the former Divas Champion on SmackDown Live on her return, it seems that she'll be added to Team RAW by way of the qualifying match on this week's episode with Bayley, Dana Brooke, and Mickie James, or by taking someone else's place. Paige has been training at the Performance Center for the past few months. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: Interesting development. We're not sure Paige would be ready for the Survivor Series match, or whether she should be on RAW anyway as SmackDown still needs that star power, but she'll be a breath of fresh air.
- WWE wants Hulk Hogan to return to the company. The issue now would be whether WWE's sponsors and partners would be amenable to his return. Hogan has also been in talks to return with another promotion, but those fell through despite potentially being a huge angle. (Source: WON)
- The heat that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens got for the post-match segment with the New Day last week on SmackDown Live seems to be a bit of miscommunication. The fact that Zayn and Owens didn't stay to get beaten down doesn't mean that they didn't want to get beaten down, as the two reportedly don't have any issues with the New Day. However, they were still told to leave the arena, go back to the hotel, and fly home. It's unclear what their role will be at Survivor Series, but the only thing that's official is that they were pulled from the Europe tour. (Source: F4WOnline)
We say: This really just sounds like a work to further the whole disgruntled employees angle. They can't be that petty to leave money on the table by not featuring two of SmackDown's most popular guys. We'll be impressed if this did turn out to be the case.
