MWF Noche Buena Officially Announced For December 9

The Filipino wrestling community is going to be in for some happy Ho-Ho-holidays this December with the Manila Wrestling Federation's official announcement of its go-home show for 2017, MWF Noche Buena.

This wrestling extravaganza will be happening on Saturday, December 9, at Makati Cinema Square on Chino Roces Avenue, Makati. Ticket prices start at P350, with barkada bundles also in place for anyone who wants to turn this into a social gathering.

Gates will open at 1 PM, with the actual show starting at 2 PM.

Main Event: Will #PinoyPride Shine Through?

What's going to make this show such a feast for the senses and a worthy close to the most prolific year in Philippine wrestling history? None other than former WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor and NXT talent Ho Ho Lun, who will be taking on MWF's high-flying daredevil Robin Sane in the main event.

Pride is going to be on the line, but can Sane deliver?

MWF's resident "Tracer, Trailblazer, Speed Chaser" is a certified top rope maestro who hasn't won often during the promotion's maiden year, but is always good for a ton of highlights—even against foes who are literally twice his size. Whether he's hurling his body to the outside with a tope con hilo or dazzling crowds with his famous 450 splash, Sane will always hustle to give fans their money's worth.

The question is whether this will be enough against the 30-year-old Ho Ho Lun, who wrestles a brutally efficient style of strikes and suplexes to blow his way to victory. Just ask current WWE Cruiserweight Ariya Daivari, who fell to the "Cool Star" in the first round of the CWC after getting dumped on his head.

Lun is as well-traveled as they come, having faced a slew of world-class talent over the course of his eight-year career, including newly-crowned NXT Champion Andrade Almas, IWC darlings Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, and fellow HKWF star Jason Lee.

And let's not forget—he actually made it to Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Top 500 Wrestlers for 2017.

Frankly, we have to believe that Robin Sane is going to be outclassed in this match, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to make a spectacle out of it. Given all the world-class arenas Lun has wrestled in, he may very well be out of his element in the delightfully rickety ring of MCS. Expect him to be slightly disoriented at the start as he tries to acclimate himself to the unfamiliar environment and a hopefully vocal crowd that should be significantly larger than what MWF normally draws.

Expect Sane to go all-out to keep Lun off balance, taking him down with headscissors and huracanranas before taking him to the outside, where he can strike from all angles with his trademark dives. He'll probably even get the chance to land his 450—but ultimately will still end up trapped in Lun's infamous bridging German Suplex for the three-count.

Our prediction: Ho Ho Lun wins via pinfall, but with both men earning a standing ovation.

The Undercard: A Work In Progress

Of course, no proper wrestling card can thrive with just one match. Expect MWF's other talents to make their presence felt this December, including the undefeated Fabio Makisig, who sports a flawless 4-0 record in the ring, and has a huge beef to settle with the popular "90s Action Star" Gigz Stryker.

Both men sport different attitudes in the ring, but are incredibly close friends outside of it. The loose, easy-going Stryker and the brash, smack-talking Makisig actually share multiple passions beyond wrestling, which makes Stryker's actions at MWF Balikbayan unforgivable in the Backstreet Bully's eyes.

Stryker may be fighting for his principles, while Makisig is open about fighting for money, so expect this brewing tension to explode in some awesome action at Noche Buena as well.

Here's another match that has a fighting chance of being the sleeper hit of the show.

This Fatal Four-Way will be featuring four young lions as the event's kick-off.

"The Grunge Grappler" Frankie Thurteen is riding high after a pulsating win against the devious Moises Liwanag in a hardcore Balikbayan Box match at the last show, and is looking to string together a proper winning streak. Morgan Vaughn and Hanzello Shilva are two more promising young talents that have squared off against each other in the past, and are hungry to redeem themselves after taking tough losses.

But who's really exciting fans is "The Bae City Bruiser" Aldrin Richards, who's been creating a buzz after a series of stellar showings that have seen him show off an all-around poise in the ring, not to mention a top-shelf offensive reportoire.

Richards' version of the One Winged Angel electric chair driver made famous by Kenny Omega is called the Rose Goddess Killer, and is absolutely electrifying to see live. There's a very good reason this man has been acclaimed as the company's most promising breakout star who's put on multiple Match of the Night candidates in his short tenure.

Other top stars should also be in action, including the masked "gentleman luchador" Mr. Lucha, the enigmatic Ninja Ryujin, the mysterious Ashura—who reportedly jetted off to Japan for more training—and Liwanag, who's scheduled to deliver his holiday address at the show.

Stay tuned for further announcements, and we'll see you at Noche Buena.
