    The Grapevine (10/20/17): PAC's Life

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Are people actually about to leave the WWE?

    • Neville is still pushing for his release from the WWE. After claiming that he wasn't originally scheduled to be part of the road schedule last week, new reports are surfacing, contradicting that report and also claiming that Neville was unhappy about the direction of his character and his treatment after being dedicated. At this point any stories about said walkout are conflicting, but Vince McMahon was said to be upset at this whole situation. (Source: Sports Illustrated)
We say: Something doesn't quite add up here. While yes, the storylines surrounding Neville especially as Cruiserweight Champion didn't always amount to much (especially against Akira Tozawa and Austin Aries) he was still booked as the lynchpin of the division. If he claimed that he wanted to be more than the Cruiserweight Champion then that would make more sense, but it seemed like there wasn't much to complain about. Perhaps it still goes back to how myopic the WWE booked the division, and it was only a matter of time until the cracks would widen. Something has to change, because this is the second big cruiserweight star affected by its booking.
    • On a related note, Nia Jax is away on a "leave of absence." Alexa Bliss confirmed this with the New York Post, saying that she needed to recharge. There are reports claiming that she was unhappy with her pay, as well as her current direction. She is still set to return, but her TLC match against Sasha Banks was given to Alicia Fox instead. We say: Ever notice how all of these reports are only happening to RAW guys?
    • Bray Wyatt, JoJo, and Bo Dallas have been pulled from the road due to a viral meningitis scare. Bo is the only one down with the sickness, but Bray and JoJo have also been kept away as a precaution as they may have been exposed to the virus. This explains Bray's video promos for the past few weeks, but his match with Finn Balor is still on for TLC this Sunday. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: At least it's nothing sexual? But this is a strange time for the company, indeed.
    • WWE Champion vs. Universal Champion at Survivor Series had been in the works for a while. However, it's just not a major match right now as Jinder Mahal is obviously not on the same level as Brock Lesnar. The feeling is that both men can't lose to the other right now, but a non-decisive finish would also not go over well. (Source: WON)
We say: You knew all the problems going in, SO WHY DID YOU BOOK THE MATCH? Jesus christ, why didn't you guys just run Brock/Finn and Jinder/AJ instead?
