    #ThemeSongTuesday: All About Me

The best theme songs are the ones that can explain to you a wrestler's character in one go. "Sexy Boy" is a great example of this because it captured the narcissism of 90's Shawn Michaels, with the added of bonus of HBK singing his own theme himself. "Voices" also does a very good job of easily painting a picture of Randy Orton and the many voices in his head. And then there was "Cult of Personality," which ably described CM Punk's magnetic ability to convert audiences into fans of his in an instant.

Emma's new theme, which debuted on September 4, summarizes her gimmick in the hook alone: it's all about me. Well, technically her, but you get the idea.

Where this theme falls flat is in the fact that it just doesn't sound like a song that matches Emma's mannerisms when she does her entrance. Unlike Emma's previous theme, "Real Deal," which was perfectly suited to how Emma poses and struts on the stage and in the ring, the tempo of "All About Me" feels disjointed from how slow Emma walks while she reminds you that the world revolves around her. Emma needed a less upbeat song that exuded how sexy she could be, while remaining a badass, much like her previous theme did. Her current one sounds more like a pop song the likes of Holly Valance or Willa Ford would've sung in the early 2000s.

On its own, the song isn't bad. The loop is catchy enough for you to want to choreograph a dance number for a high school dance troupe. The song goes through four or five cycles—depending on where you start—and isn't just pure synth and EDM loops. There are actually real guitars used during the buildup to when the beat drops, signaling the ending of one loop and the beginning of another.

And then there's the random "YA!" that Emma yells in between loops. I don't get how or why that belongs in the song. Emma isn't even the type to hype herself up by going "HI-YA!" or by pumping her fist.

For someone as skilled in the ring as Emma, it's a shame that her career's been littered with start-and-stop pushes. It's even worse that despite the lack of depth in the RAW women's division, it wasn't until the buildup to this year's No Mercy that Emma even got a shot at the title. I hope that being saddled with a theme that doesn't exactly fit her gimmick doesn't bring Emma down. Truthfully, once you get past the hook at the start and the first 10-15 seconds, the song isn't all that bad. You just have to drown the rest of it out as white noise.
