The Grapevine (9/22/17): The House That The Anti-Diva Built

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Paige is training for a WWE comeback, for real:

    • There is already a plan laid out for Paige's return to the WWE. Paige, who was seen training at the Performance Center earlier this week after being medically cleared to wrestle, will be headed to SmackDown Live once she gets back in ring shape. She was cleared of any domestic assault charges following an incident with fiance Alberto El Patron in Orlando. (Source: WON)
We say: This is definitely going to be interesting, and Paige going to SmackDown is a good fit for her. Will she team up again with her old running mates the Submission Sorority Team PCB? It should be fun, but let's hope her out-of-the-ring shenanigans don't catch up with her.
    • A Horsewomen feud between the WWE Horsewomen and the MMA Horsewomen is still in the works, for Survivor Series at the earliest. That would at least bring the two sets of Horsewomen on the two different brands. Ideas of Ronda Rousey vs. either Stephanie McMahon or Charlotte Flair have also been previously mentioned.

Meanwhile, any news of Shayna Baszler being signed to the WWE is still actually unconfirmed, as she was not used in the recent set of NXT tapings despite being backstage. However, she is expected to sign as she stopped taking any further indy bookings. (Source: WON)
We say: There's actually nothing new about this news, which we already reported over a week ago. We at least still know that this is what they want to do.
    • WWE is denying that Vince McMahon bladed in last week's SmackDown Live segment with Kevin Owens. The people producing the segment reportedly did not talk about any use of blood, claiming that "it just happened." Dave Meltzer claims that he watched the segment on a big screen and noticed a line on Vince's forehead before the headbutt. For what it's worth, this is the same thing the company states whenever Brock Lesnar apparently bleeds the hard way. (Source: WON)
We say: We're making a big deal out of something that doesn't really matter a lot, because it's apparently clear what Vince did. If they want to keep denying it to preserve the mystery, that's totally fine. Can we just move on already, so that we don't have to risk our collective intelligence being insulted any more?
    • Streaming service FloSports is suing World Wrestling Network (WWN) over misrepresentation of some of their iPPV and VOD buyrates. The two companies partnered last October for the former to stream the latter's promotions and iPPVs for five years, namely EVOLVE, Full Impact Pro, SHINE, and American Combat Wrestling. FloSports claimed that WWN inflated their figures, and this lawsuit is apparently a way for both companies to get out of the contract early. (Source: PWTorch)
We say: It seems as though both FloSports and WWN didn't get the mileage they wanted from this deal, as it hadn't created as much buzz as expected. Maybe build in a reasonable opt-out clause next time?
