Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.
Here's an important update on Ric Flair's health:
- Ric Flair underwent surgery to remove a blockage in his colon. The blockage, which was the worst thing happening to him and was apparently exacerbated by his excessive drinking throughout his life, made a number of health problems worse. He went into the hospital in a lot of pain and was in critical condition, hence the emergency surgery. Now Flair is on kidney dialysis as his doctors are trying to restore function to his kidneys, which is part of what he still has to fight in order to recover. (Source: F4WOnline)
We say: We're wishing Flair all the best here—the world isn't ready to lose him just yet.
- Shelton Benjamin has reportedly finally signed with WWE again. He was set to re-sign for SmackDown last year when problems with his rotator cuff were found during his physicals, and he underwent surgery for it afterward. He was cleared to compete as early as March of this year, but has finally just signed. Shelton is now 42, and it's not clear if he'll still be headed to SmackDown Live. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: It now looks like Shelton would be headed to RAW, as there's not much space in the already tight SmackDown roster and RAW has some holes in its midcard.
- Scott Dawson has now undergone surgery for his torn biceps. He'll be sidelined until December. Dawson sustained the injury at a RAW live event during a match against Sheamus and Cesaro, as the Revival were set to face the Hardys this Sunday at SummerSlam.
We say: That's another tag team down, as the company now needs to figure out what to do about both divisions. Teaming up Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose is one thing, but they have other pressing needs as well.
