PWR To Debut New Championship At Resbak?

Could a brand new belt be on its way to the Philippine Wrestling Revolution?

Just a month after the company finally unveiled its brand new red-and-blue Tag Team Championships, some cryptic tweets by PWR President "The Senyorito" Jake De Leon suggest that yet another new belt may be making an addition to the championship lineup.

De Leon's Twitter has been a great source for company scoops in the past, such as when he famously teased the new tag belts a day before they officially debuted.

While details are scant, we figure there are two possible ways PWR could be going with this.

The first (and most exciting to us!) would be a complete refresh of Chris Panzer's newly-won PWR Championship.

Having debuted in 2015, the belt, while dignified in its own way, sticks out like a sore thumb compared to other championships in the lineup. The white-and-gold PHX Championship, for example, was critically acclaimed on its introduction, with a silhouette and heft that some fans felt even outshined the main PWR Championship.

Even the Tag Team Championships at this stage look better than the current PWR Championship with their distinctive two-toned approach and intricate etching.

A brand new PWR Championship in, say, a yellow colorway would complete the spectrum of a Philippine flag, giving all the belts a larger narrative as the true representation of Filipino pro wrestling, while simultaneously reinforcing PWR's brand identity as the home of "Yellow Wrestling."

    Like so.

Conversely, JDL's tweets could be alluding to an entirely new championship altogether. A dedicated Women's Championship perhaps, or a Hardcore Championship to celebrate the likes of Bombay Suarez and his trademark Flaming Chop?

Either possibility intrigues us, and with Chris Panzer making his first official show entrance as PWR Champion, PWR Live: Resbak would be a fantastic chance to kick off an era all his own. It would also unquestionably set him apart from the John Sebastian era.

What do you think, Revo-Nation? Are JDL's tweets teasing a new PWR Championship, or do you think a new division could be launching? Let us know in the comments, and we'll see you at the show!

PWR LIVE: Resbak will be held at the Foton Showroom, Pasong Tamo Ext., Makati City. Gates open at 2pm. Tickets at the door will be P400 each, but discounted prices will be made available for early bird and bundle purchases. You may contact them here, as well as to check for any and all updates regarding the event.
