The Grapevine (1/5/17): El Patron Del TNA

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Incidentally, our first post-Wrestle Kingdom Grapevine has nothing to do with NJPW:

    • Alberto El Patron is still in talks with TNA. The company had been trying to get him ever since he left the WWE back in September, and way back after he left the first time in 2015. He hasn't signed any new contract yet, and isn't expected to appear in the company's new tapings this week. TNA isn't due for any big moves for this set of tapings, and the next set of Impact Wrestling tapings are in March. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: Typical TNA, but it would be dumb for them not to go for him. However, it does seem like El Patron is smart enough to not sign with them either. We'll see what happens.

    • Davey Richards could be coming back to TNA in this week's tapings. Richards has been out with an ACL tear since the second quarter of last year, and TNA World Champion Eddie Edwards is set for a mystery opponent for this week's episode. Incidentally, Davey announced that 2017 would be his last year in the business. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: Oh, sorry, Davey Richards is still a thing?
