    The Grapevine (1/26/17): Balor Rising

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Finn Balor may or may not be coming back this Sunday:

    • Finn Balor is getting checked for medical clearance this week. Finn posted a video of himself on Instagram doing TRX curls after getting his shoulder injured at SummerSlam. However, if he does get cleared, it doesn't necessarily mean that Finn will be coming back in the Royal Rumble match itself. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: The positive takeaway is that at the very least, the Finn return is more imminent than we think.

    • Goldberg is one of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble match, but it isn't likely as Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg is still planned for WrestleMania. Lesnar would have to win the WWE Universal Championship from either Roman Reigns or Kevin Owens, and he's not scheduled to wrestle on Fastlane in March. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: Did anyone really expect this old man (out of many) to win the Royal Rumble?

    • Sami Zayn is currently being made to look like a "total geek." Segments like last week's backstage Shield markout moment were done to present him like a total dork, because apparently Sami has backstage heat on him. For what exactly is not clear. (Source: WON)

We say: If that's the case, then their "punishment" pretty much backfired. People loved that segment, and establishing Sami as a geek gives him more personality than simply being the underdog wrestler.
