#MustWatchMonday (10/17/2016): Ladder War VI: The Addiction vs. The Young Bucks vs. Motor City Machine Guns

On September 30, 2016, Ring of Honor held its All Star Extravaganza iPPV, and the card was stacked. Featuring matches such as Tetsuya Naito vs. Jay Lethal, Michael Elgin vs. Adam Cole for the ROH World Championship and Dragon Lee vs. Kamaitachi, this event was great from top to bottom.

While the event as a whole is a must-watch, one match stands head and shoulders over the rest, and it was fittingly the main event. For only the sixth time in its history, ROH held a Ladder War, and this one was for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Defending the title were Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian, also known as the Addiction. Their challengers were the Young Bucks, and the the team of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, the Motor City Machine Guns.

If you've paid any attention at all to ROH, you'll know that Ladder Wars are one of their most brutal affairs, which is the reason why only five have ever been held before this one. This match is only reserved for the most bitter of grudges, and is the punctuation mark for a long-standing blood feud. The most popular example of a Ladder War match is Ladder War IV, which saw Kevin Steen and El Generico putting an end to their feud... at least in ROH.

This match absolutely did not fail to live up to its predecessors, and was just a constant barrage of action and chaos. Tables were broken, ladders were bent and blood was shed. But no one shed more blood than Christopher Daniels, who was undisputedly the MVP of this match. At 46 years old, Daniels didn't need to go through the hell that he went through in this match-- going through ladders and tables, being smashed in the middle of the ladder, and spilling the amount of blood that he did.

That's not to say that all the other wrestlers didn't do their part. A match like this wouldn't be as great as it was if only one man were responsible for it. Everyone gave up a part of themselves to make this work and the amount of brutality that they put on display can not be overstated.

I'm not going to spoil the winner, as I believe you should take the time to watch this match and see how it all unfolds. There was beauty in the chaos, and everything happened for a reason. This match will definitely be in the conversation for MOTY in 2016, and if you only watch one match in ROH this year, make it this one.

Despite being a huge fan of Japanese wrestling, he still holds a soft spot in his heart for WWE's Kane. He's good for recommending matches from pretty much anywhere, whether it be Japan, Europe, the US or Mexico. He'd be ecstatic if you watched Dragon Gate though.
