The Grapevine (8/5/16): Follow the Injured

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

    Bray Wyatt has another injury:

    • Bray Wyatt did apparently sprain his ankle on SmackDown this week. Bray rolled his ankle and the referee threw up the X sign, but he didn't want to stop the match or get help from trainers. We'll know the injury is rather serious if he is left off this weekend's live events. (Source: WON)

We say: Oh no, not again. But sprained ankles aren't usually much to get worried about, and with a set main event match for SmackDown on SummerSlam, Bray has enough time out of the limelight to recover.

    • Zack Sabre, Jr. doesn't seem to plan on signing with the WWE just yet. A number of Cruiserweight Classic competitors have already signed contracts, but ZSJ apparently either has goals he wants to achieve outside of WWE before he signs, or that some officials in WWE don't like the way he "makes things look easy." (Source: WON)

We say: The second concern seems way too silly for us. A lot of other people in the WWE make things look easy. John Cena makes Superman comebacks look easy. AJ Styles and Kalisto make flying around look easy. Brock Lesnar makes throwing people around look easy. All of a sudden making catch wrestling look easy is a dealbreaker? We're giving people demerits because they're actually very good at what they do?

    • MVP doesn't seem to be signing with the WWE. It was rumored that he was among the names contacted to return and help the brand split, but it's still possible that he signs. Apparently, the offers WWE made to veteran former talent were rather low to begin with. (Source: WON)

We say: We actually think things are fine the way they are. Shelton Benjamin is a welcome addition back to the WWE roster, but to add more people to an already-packed two-hour show would be overkill and might even be bad for the younger talent trying to get over.

    • Nikki Bella is training for a WWE comeback, but her neck injury will make things harder for her. She hasn't been medically cleared yet, but people feel that she'll only be able to return on a part-time capacity.

Meanwhile, Paige is also out with an injury, but her relationship with Alberto del Rio is getting her heat with the company. This is the reason why they were drafted to different brands, and her status in the company is apparently in jeopardy. (Source: WON)

We say: The company can just be so damn petty about relationships, huh?
