PWR at APCC Day 2 Results (8/27/16)

After a wildly-entertaining Day 1 of Philippine Wrestling Rvolution action at the AsiaPOP Comicon yesterday, August 26, at the state-of-the-art SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, local pro wrestling fans flooded back for the second day of warfare between both established PWR stars and young, up-and-comers.

Today's matches were headlined by a pair of championship matches: a first-time encounter between the rugged PHX Champion Main Maxx of the Royal Flush and the explosive Chris Panzer, who emerged victorious over Mike Madrigal on Day 1, while fellow Day 1 victor "The Senyorito" Jake De Leon defended his PWR gold against the dangerous former PHX Champion Ken Warren.

Here's how today's matches turned out.

Match 1: SANDATA vs. John Sebastian

This was the closest thing we've seen yet for Southside supremacy, with SANDATA hailing from Southern Tagalog, and the cocky John Sebastian a proud resident of the posh Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa.

SANDATA unleashed the full force of his trademark kicks and daredevil maneuvers, only to fall short after a pair of brutal Killshots to the skull. Sebastian is clearly picking up some serious momentum as he heads into next month's PWR Renaissance 2016 for his promised championship shot against whoever is PWR Champion then.

    Winners: John Sebastian via pinfall

Match 2: Delirium (Dan & Dax) vs. Beer Promdi (Kanto Terror & Mark D. Manalo)

The raw but immensely talented Delirium took to the ring to lock horns with the seasoned tag team combination of Beer Promdi. Early on, it seemed like the PWR rookies would coast to victory after a spectacular suicide dive to wipe out their rivals.

The veteran smarts of Beer Promdi were too much to overcome, however, as Manalo sealed the win for his team with a vicious spear.

    Winners: Beer Promdi via pinfall

Match 3: Ralph Imabayashi vs. The Apocalypse

Ralph Imabayashi looked to rebound from his narrow loss against JDL from Day 1 with a strong showing against the fearsome Apocalypse, who he memorably defeated in his first PWR Championship defense early this year. Unfortunately however for the skidding Imabayashi, whose win-loss performance has been miserable as of late, the Apocalypse was too much for him in a crushing performance.

    Winner: Apocalypse via TKO

Match 4: Miguel Rosales vs. Vlad Sinnsyk vs. Mike Madrigal

PWR seems to have carved a niche for itself with its always-awesome three-way matches, and this was no exception, presenting an interesting collision of styles between the unstable Vlad Sinnsyk, the punishing Miguel Rosales, and the brash Mike Madrigal.

Fans were treated to such scintillating spots as a double vertical suplex to Sinnsyk, who rebounded by powerbombing Rosales to the mat as he himself had Madrigal prepped for a superplex of his own.

The ring generalship of Rosales proved to be the decisive edge, as he squeaked out a narrow victory with his trademark Castigo Brutal F5.

    Winner: Miguel Rosales via pinfall

Match 5PHX Championship Match: Chris Panzer vs. Main Maxx (c)

Could Chris Panzer finally shake off the "choke artist" label that's been hounding him for much of 2016 against the intimidating Main Maxx of the Royal Flush?

This match was pretty much a showcase for the all-around skills that took Main Maxx to the PHX Championship, laying out Panzer with both a surprising aerial game peppered with his usual power-based onslaught.

Confusion flooded the climax, with Panzer thinking he had finally won the PHX Championship, only for his win to be announced as one via disqualification—meaning Maxx escaped with his championship reign intact. Whoops.

    Winner: Chris Panzer via disqualification

Match 6: Chino Guinto & The YOLO Twins (Yohann Ollores & Logan Ollores) vs. Martivo, Robynn & Crystal

The Rainbow Squad was in for a treat, as the Human Man-Doll Martivo lined up with Crystal and Robynn for some six-wrestler action against The Network's Chino Guinto and the infuriating YOLO Twins.

#TeamCharot had control early on, flooring their foes with simultaneous triple suplexes.

Girl power ruled the day, with Guinto and the YOLO Twins tapping out to simultaneous submissions by Martivo, Crystal, and Robynn.

Winners: Martivo, Crystal & Robynn via triple submission

Match 7—PWR Championship Match: Ken Warren vs. Jake De Leon (c)

Ken Warren announced himself to the AsiaPOP attendees as the main attraction for the weekend, but could be solidify his claim by defeating PWR Champion "The Senyorito" Jake De Leon for all the marbles?

Warren had the champ in trouble early on, locking him into an excruciating abdominal stretch that had JDL screaming in agony.

But in the end, it didn't really matter. De Leon was too much for the Social Media Sinister to handle, crushing him with his legendary Alipin Drop to successfully defend his crown.

Winner: Jake De Leon via pinfall

Come by the APCC center stage tomorrow at SMX Convention Center for the third and final day of PWR action. Matches are at 12 PM, 3 PM and 6 PM.
