#MustWatchMonday (8/29/16): Chris Hero vs. Marty Scurll, Uprising 2016

One of the world's best wrestlers that I feel we don't cover enough here on the site is Chris Hero. You may know him as Kassius Ohno from NXT. He was one of the best wrestlers on the independent scene before making it to NXT, and has only improved since he departed from it. While a certain segment of fans might scoff at him for his appearances and his weight, that shouldn't deter wrestling fans in general from watching the great stuff he puts out on a consistent basis.

An recent example of Hero's great output happened on August 12, at Revolution Pro Wrestling Uprising 2016. This event, famous among the fandom for the Will Ospreay-Vader match that was born out of their Twitter feud, also featured a stellar match between Chris Hero and the Villain, Marty Scurll.

Marty Scurll has been on a tear since winning his match against Will Ospreay at High Stakes 2016, winning his last ten matches as he sets his sight on the British Heavyweight Championship, the biggest prize in the promotion. His main weapon of choice has been his Crossface Chickenwing, and Scurll has been finding more and more creative ways to cinch it in and tap his opponents out.

This time however, he faces a problem in the form of Chris Hero, who's simply just much too big for him to put it on properly. Hero forced Scrull to wrestle his style and at his pace, that being focused more on power and strength rather than submissions and finesse; and Scurll just couldn't compete with Hero in those aspects.

This match is brutal, the crowd reactions are great, and these are two of some of the best wrestlers in the world. What more could you want?

Brandon Sy is a PhD student in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics currently based in Sydney. Since he wasn't allowed to watch wrestling as a kid, he's been overcompensating ever since. Despite being a huge fan of Japanese wrestling, he still holds a soft spot in his heart for WWE's Kane. He's good for recommending matches from pretty much anywhere, whether it be Japan, Europe, the US or Mexico. He'd be ecstatic if you watched Dragon Gate though.
