The Grapevine (7/8/16): You're Damn Right Oh Shit

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Why did The Final Deletion happen?

    • TNA went ahead with The Final Deletion match/segment because Dixie Carter wanted fresh Impact Wrestling content that was spoiler-free. The segment, which was shot entirely in Matt and Jeff Hardy's houses in North Carolina, drew 410,000 viewers for Impact Wrestling. Not all of the material that was filmed ended up being used in the final cut, and all of the props used were there at Matt's house. Kevin Keenan, the OFFICIAL!, is not currently a member of TNA, but a referee the Hardys knew from WWE. Most importantly, Senor Benjamin is actually a close personal friend of Reby Sky, and will be appearing on Impact Wrestling more often from this point on. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: Really, we're pretty much happy with the Senor Benjamin news. Everything else is just icing on the cake. PREPARADO PARA UN MASACRE!

    • The 205-lb. weight limit for the Cruiserweight Classic is legitimate. If the wrestlers didn't make the weight, they would have literally been cut from the tournament. Everyone who comes back for the second round and beyond will also have to maintain the weight, as they will have to go through weigh-ins before all their matches. (Source: WON)

We say: Um, why? It's a nice gesture on the WWE's part, but it's ultimately pointless because 1) unlike in actual shoot wrestling, a weight difference isn't going to matter since there are so many different styles, and 2) the audience is not going to perceive a wrestler going over 205. Everyone knows billed weights are altered, so what's the point, really?
