The Grapevine (6/16/16): More Bad News For TNA

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

TNA is apparently still in big trouble:

    • According to TNA's Chief Financial and Chief Operating Officer Dean Broadhead, he only had 12 hours to "secure interim financing" for Slammiversary last Sunday. Broadhead, who claimed it might be "time to retire," and his financial chops are reportedly a big reason why TNA has managed to stay alive lately, and losing him would deal a considerable blow to the company. As reported the other day, Billy Corgan is close to buying a minority stake in the company, if he hasn't already. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: So apparently, if Vince McMahon needs to go in order for the WWE product to become considerably better, Dixie really, really needs to go, too. We're giving TNA a prognosis of only 'til the end of the year.

    • WWE just applied to trademark the Clash of the Champions name for use in a TV show and other merchandise. It's likely that they're close to bringing the name back for events. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: Looks like we'll be getting the PPV back for post-brand split. Makes sense, when you think about it.

Let us know what you think of today's news in the comments!
