John Cena Just Got (Really) Injured

According to PWInsider just now, John Cena has been hit with a shoulder injury. Cena has a torn rotator cuff that needs surgery, and he will be getting it on Thursday, U.S. time. He just confirmed it on his Twitter:

There isn't any news yet of where, when, and how he suffered the injury, but this is why he was not on RAW this week and why he only cut a promo in the live debut of SmackDown on the USA Network.

Cena's torn rotator cuff—the same injury Randy Orton is currently saddled with—is apparently severe enough for him to require a lengthy recovery time of six to nine months, meaning he is very, very likely to miss WrestleMania 32. Of course, with Cena being Cena, it's also likely that he'll return sooner than expected, but that still won't be in time for the show. The latest rumor of his participation in the event was a scheduled match versus the Undertaker, with other smaller rumors saying he could also face Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Obviously, if Cena has to miss the show, then a lot of the plans will have to be changed—with ramifications on the upper midcard and possibly the main event, whatever that will be. This will be the first WrestleMania Cena won't be on as part of the main roster since WrestleMania XIX.

With the main WWE roster decimated of its biggest stars (on top of them getting older), it now makes even more sense for the company to sign big names from all over the world. We wish Cena a speedy recovery, but also openly wonder if the WWE should start enacting some changes to the way they do business (and whether Cena is going to call it quits sooner rather than later).

What do you think? Would you be open to Cena not being at Mania? Who would you want Undertaker to face in his place? Let us know what you think in the comments!
