The Grapevine (12/29/15): Finally, the Rock Is Coming Back

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Grapevine! This is our daily post rounding up all the interesting rumors from the wild, wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

We have an interesting turnaround from something that was reported earlier this year:

    • The Rock announced on Instagram today that he will be appearing at WrestleMania 32. It was previously reported that he wouldn't be able to due to a movie he's shooting requiring him to be in healthy shape, which might not happen if he were wrestling at the event. It isn't sure right now what he will be doing that night. As it stands, there is no news of Ronda Rousey being able to appear. (Source: WWE)

We say: That's interesting. It seems as though he isn't going to show up in a wrestling role if they have to announce his appearance in a press release way ahead of time. While that could still change, we wouldn't get our hopes up.

    • Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste, part of Pro Wrestling NOAH stable The Mighty Don't Kneel, could be headed to WWE. While this has been rumored for a while now, their contracts with NOAH expire on December 31 and there hasn't been news of a re-signing. The duo had a WWE tryout earlier this year and had been offered contracts, and are only just waiting for paperwork to go through before moving to the States. (Source: Puroresu Spirit, Wrestling Inc)

We say: It's only a matter of time, fans. It would take a freak accident for them to not make it through.

    • Santino Marella could be brought back to television this week. It's possible that he will start appearing for WWE again some more, after last week's Slammy episode. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: As long as Santino doesn't waste time in the ring and is relegated to a post-career Ron Simmons role. As much as we love Santino and his joie de vivre in unleashing the Cobra in the ring, there isn't that much space for acts like that, especially on a RAW that's trying to hustle back into fans' good graces.

What do you think? Do you want to see the Rock at WrestleMania? What would you like him to do at the event? Let us know what you think in the comments!
