The Grapevine (12/21/15): Thy Kingdom Come

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Grapevine! This is our daily post rounding up all the interesting rumors from the wild, wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the evening.

There's a couple of movement-related rumors this morning, as well as a celebrity one, so let's get right to it!

    * Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis are reportedly done with ROH. Part of the faction known as The Kingdom, the couple's contracts with ROH are apparently up and they are not set to renew. This also means that they might be done with NJPW unless they sign with them, as they appeared in Japan thanks to the ROH-NJPW partnership. Bennett and Kanellis have reportedly been telling people that they will start with TNA in the new year. (Source: WON)

We say: While we know some of you are going to miss the Kingdom/Maria, this is an interesting direction for the career of Mike Bennett. He's only 30, which means that he's still got a lot of years ahead of him. The TNA rumor actually ties in with last week's news that TNA is out looking for free agents, and Bennett would be a good acquisition. Bennett has the look of a top-tier star, and could give some fresh feuds for the company to play around with. There's also a small, small chance that WWE have finally signed them, as he's always been regarded as that guy on the indies who has that "WWE look". I don't know about you, but the prospect of Maria/Bennett feuding with Rusev/Lana is very interesting.

You know who's screwed by this, though? Matt Taven. Taven and Adam Cole are the only Kingdom members left on ROH, and you'd imagine that they'll continue to feature Cole as a huge singles star. That leaves Taven without a direction for now, on top of the injury he picked up at Final Battle.

    * Angelico and Jack Evans plan to stay with AAA/Lucha Underground for the time being, despite offers from WWE. The duo had an interview with PlanetaDeporte in Spain where they mentioned that WWE approached them during a PWG show. However, both plan to stick it out with Lucha Underground for as long as it exists. Both wrestlers are featured often in Lucha Underground and in AAA, where they are known as Los Güeros del Cielo. We say: Good. Evans and Angelico are a great part of Lucha Underground, and seeing them go would be a shame. It takes a lot to say no to the WWE, which means that these two are very, very optimistic about the future of Lucha Underground (as they should be). Also, the WWE already has one high flyer in Neville and he's lost in the shuffle — what are they going to do if they have three?

    * A certain WWE wrestler seems to have spoiled who is going to win the Slammy for Celebrity Moment of the Year on Twitter. Stardust tweeted earlier that "you know who" is winning the award by a huge margin, and all signs point to "you know who" being Stephen Amell. Amell and Stardust had a memorable feud culminating in a match at Summerslam this year. Amell is competing against other big names such as Jon Stewart, Machine Gun Kelly, the cast of Entourage, and Manchester United player Wayne Rooney for the award. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: Sorry to all you Arrow fanboys, but Amell? Really? In the same year Jon Stewart had this? Nope.

What do you think, Henrinites? Are Angelico and Jack Evans making the right move by turning down WWE? Where should Michael Bennett be going? Do you agree with Stephen Amell winning the Slammy? Let us know!
