Is Dean Ambrose Getting Seth Rollins' WrestleMania Spot?

Some days, it feels like the WWE has no idea what to do with Dean Ambrose. One moment, he gets left off of the Hell in a Cell card. The next, he gets multiple backstage segments dedicated to his search for partners to back him up in a SmackDown main event.

We do know the Lunatic Fringe is insanely popular with fans; not only is he one of the most frequently mentioned Superstars on social media, the WWE has seen fit to award him with the second-most merchandise on WWE Shop, next only to John Cena.

With Seth Rollins knocked out of active duty potentially until SummerSlam next year, the 'E could be slotting Ambrose into a higher-profile role, as suggested by a recent change to advertising materials for WrestleMania 32 next year.

    Before and after.

On the one hand, WWE's marketing materials don't necessarily predict future storylines. But on the other hand, it's a huge deal to be hand-picked as the one Superstar to literally take the WWE World Heavyweight Champion's slot on something intended to push the biggest event in the wrestling world. It's Dean Ambrose standing side-by-side with John Cena, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and the Undertaker to sell 100,000 tickets. Not Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, Ryback, Alberto Del Rio, or Bray Wyatt.

Granted, it's never nice to be seen as just a "sympathy replacement" for an absent star. But you don't hear Rey Mysterio or Christian complaining about the World Championship reigns they got as sympathy replacements for Eddie Guerrero and Edge, respectively. And to be fair, things are getting pretty lean at the top of the WWE roster so it wasn't as if there were many other options.

This is all just speculation at this point, but we'd like to think the WWE had some sort of rational thought process going on when they chose Dean Ambrose to literally take Seth Rollins' WrestleMania spot.

Do you think Dean Ambrose is finally getting his long-deserved main event run next year? Or do you feel the WWE could have made a better choice? Let us know in the comments!
